I recently moved to a country side. For me to go to the malls or buy supplies, I need to tacle 60% street / pavements, and 40% dirt/gravel. I wear pure dirt bike helment. I'm always on the slow lane. 40 to 50 km/h is my speed. I don't care what people say if enduro helmets is not goood on streets. I don't race with vehicles on the highways, nor overtake that much, because I know I'm on an enduro bike. My opinion is you adjust to the helmet you wear, regardless of where you ride.

Bike looks like it’s mostly stock. Did you open the air box, add a pipe, and remove the emissions crap? It shouldn’t do what you’re saying it did if it was all done correctly

The Gen 1 KLR was cool. If I was going to rock a KLR, it'd be a Gen 1. I had an 89 briefly. Just a bit bulky for me and kinda tall. I have a DR-Z now and with the lowering link, it's much better. The DR-Z is a more trail worthy bike.

I would still prefer a cleaned Yamaha Tenere 700 or CRF 250. Get the heavy exhaust off and all other unnecessary parts. This can safe you much KG. Price around the same and a promised reliable engine. I will wait a few more years to see how these bike will hold on. Especially on the second hand market. A high end Chinese Xiaomi mobile has almost no value after 2 years and cost you 580,- And Iphone cost you 880 and is still worth around 400 after 2 years.

Clip a rear view mirror to... for one thing besides the obvious (block the sun?). Further more, if you were only ever riding street, you wouldn't even be looking at a dual sport helmet.

i just tested the new 450, i think it wil blow your mind compared to this 411, its no rally bike, it is a thrue adv bike. i hope you wil try it

I haven't seen " D" rings in years!? My modern-style Freed Conn modular helmet has a built-in sun shield, Bluetooth, 3 closeable air vents with defroster vents for the inside of the face shield! The vents don't really work below 15 MPH though. So, I just crack the face shield a little. And the chin strap is a modern ratchet strip style. Kinda funny that I have to charge my helmet too now?!

the kove thats on sale to the public isn't the dakar bike . saying that, there were quite a few of them on the sandraiders this year and they did fairly well and those were customer bikes riden by normal people as sandraiders isn't a comp it's a rally on parts of the african paris dakar route.

What about fuel consumption? I read that consumption is higher than other dual sports. Actually I want this for everyday use, legal issues are not a problem, just maintenance like fuel or oil, I mean the cost of a city bike.

I'm up in Northern Utah and really enjoy it. I ride a lot slower and more laid back than I used to. The scenery is amazing and Capitol Reef is one of my favorite places ever. Thanks for sharing!

Wonder if Width should be measured at the handlebars? A single tire width in a grassy flat field doesn’t mean much, but a bar’s width on single track with trees everywhere is way harder.

Hey Tyler, just wanted to say thanks for your pneumonic videos. You’ve been a massive influence in teaching geography to my kids as well as me!

I’ve been there and I am still recovering. That’s what got me into dual sport. I have had anxiety and stuff left over from the Army and after getting out it started showing up. Off and on meds and dealing with it for years. 2021 it reached its peak and caused me to lose my job as a technician at a CAT dealership here in Georgia due to have really bad panic attacks, the kind that shut you down in fear and caused me to get fearful when driving and somehow I started running to the house every time it happened and that turned into agoraphobia. I still haven’t been back to work yet but I have been working with the VA on that. Thankfully I get VA disability so the medical stuff is free and there is income. I was stuck in the house for almost a year unable to drive by myself or leave without someone with me. Took a while to get over that but when I bought my 04’KTM 450 EXC I went and got my motorcycle license since I have always had dirt bikes but never a street legal one I figured maybe it will help. It definitely did. It’s hard to have anxiety when you have a handful of throttle and grinning ear to ear. I still get anxiety but it’s easier to get through now. What also helped is prayer and thanking the lord everyday for what He has blessed me with in this life and just thinking about positive things. Also from the Dare anxiety book I would beg the anxiety for more panic more fear when experiencing it and talking to it like it was a person and it never would get any worse and went away quickly. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
